“Variation” — Acrylic on Canvas, 11" × 14" × 1"
by Victoria Zyluk
“Variation” invites the viewer into a quiet forest moment where water, stone, and light move together in gentle harmony. A narrow stream winds through the centre of the composition, its cool blues and soft reflections creating a natural pathway for the eye. Rocks anchor the scene, painted with textured, confident strokes that give them weight and presence.
Tall trees rise along the banks, their foliage rendered in layered greens and warm earth tones. Victoria’s brushwork captures the subtle shifts of light filtering through the canopy—those flickers of brightness that dance across grasses, trunks, and water. The interplay of shadow and illumination gives the painting its rhythm, a sense of nature constantly shifting yet deeply still.
“Variation” feels like a pause in the forest’s day: tranquil, grounded, and quietly alive. It celebrates the small changes—light on water, movement in leaves—that make each moment in nature beautifully different.
