Moonlit — Acrylic on Canvas, 12" × 16" × 1.5"
by Victoria Zyluk
Moonlit invites the viewer into a quiet winter forest where light and stillness share the same breath. A partially frozen stream winds through the foreground, its surface catching soft reflections of surrounding colour—cool blues, muted violets, and the faint shimmer of snow‑filtered light. Dark rocks and fallen logs break through the snowpack, adding rhythm and grounding to the scene.
Beyond the water, a stand of trees rises in layered tones: deep evergreens, silvery trunks, and one striking tree washed in warm orange‑brown foliage, a last echo of autumn glowing against the winter hush. The contrast between the cold brilliance of snow and the warmth of lingering leaves creates a gentle tension, suggesting a moment suspended between seasons.
Victoria’s brushwork brings both texture and serenity to the composition, capturing the way moonlight softens edges and deepens shadows. The painting feels intimate and contemplative—an invitation to pause, breathe, and step quietly into the forest’s nocturnal calm.
