Stampede, Sun, and Strokes of Genius: A Sunday with Victoria

Last Sunday, Victoria saddled up her trusty collapsible wagon—yes, the one that folds like a rodeo trick—and packed it with paints, brushes, and enough creative energy to light up Canyon Meadows. She was headed to the CMCA Hall for the “Stampede in September” festivities, hosted by the Canyon Meadows Community Association. The Calgary Art Community had kindly invited her to join their artist tent, and Victoria was more than happy to wrangle her way into the action.

Fun fact: this very spot will also host one of Victoria’s exhibitions this November. So consider Sunday a sneak peek with a side of sunshine.
The weather? Hot enough to melt acrylics, but thankfully we had shade, a breeze, and enough water to keep both artists and canvases from wilting. Victoria began two new paintings, planning to finish them later in the cool comfort of her studio. Visitors wandered by, chatted with the artists, admired the work, and scooped up Victoria’s business cards like they were limited-edition collectibles. (Which, honestly, they kind of are.)
Big shoutout to Tabitha, the behind-the-scenes hero who made the whole day run smoother than a fresh coat of gesso.

Now, if you’ve been following the blog, you’ll know that Victoria’s work was accepted into the 2025 Small Exhibition by the Federation of Canadian Artists. We did a little happy dance when Canada Post confirmed that our parcel of paintings had safely arrived at the gallery in Vancouver. The exhibition runs from September 23 to October 5—so tell your friends, tell your neighbours, and maybe even tell that barista who always spells your name wrong.
Let’s get people to the gallery and maybe even get Victoria’s art into some new homes.
Coming up this Sunday, September 14, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, we’ll be showcasing Victoria’s work at Passport to the Arts 2025, located at 1124 – 15th Street NW, Calgary. It’s going to be a whirlwind of creativity, so wear comfy shoes and bring your curiosity.
We’re heading into a busy season, and I’m already eyeing my calendar with one hand and clutching my coffee with the other. Deep breath... See you Monday!
