“Snowbanks” — Acrylic on Canvas, 11" × 14" × 1"
by Victoria Zyluk
“Snowbanks” captures the quiet poetry of a winter day, where colour breathes gently through the cold. A winding path of snow leads the viewer inward, its surface shifting between soft blues, violets, and turquoise—those subtle hues that appear when light glances across fresh drifts. The brushwork is confident and impressionistic, giving the snow a sense of movement, as though it’s settling and reshaping itself with each passing moment.
On the left, deep evergreens stand tall, their dark tones grounding the scene. On the right, trees touched with warm browns and reds offer a beautiful counterbalance, suggesting deciduous branches catching the winter light. The pale sky overhead completes the atmosphere: crisp, calm, and full of that unmistakable stillness that winter brings.
“Snowbanks” feels like a pause in nature’s breath—serene, luminous, and quietly alive with colour.
