Victoria’s View – August 4, 2024
Do you have a place just for you to create whether poetry, art, writing or just for contemplating? Does that sound selfish? It is an absolute necessity! Remove yourself from daily routine and concerns just for a while and you will see the difference it makes. Restore your sense of identity and find yourself ---- your creative self that has been yearning for its voice! A place where you explore new thoughts, review and prepare a platform. Examine your fears of exposing your creative side. What are you waiting for? The right time or finding the right space. Where could this space be? Perhaps a spare room, shed, porch or even a closet! Does it need to be spacious or match the rest of your home décor? Not at all!!
When you do find a space set some boundaries. This is your time to use however you wish. Perhaps you are finding inspiration or planning your mode of creative expression. What are your expectations? What is your goal? Does the goal need to be completed? Again No! Having a space reduces stress----similar to a self – imposed TIME OUT. It changes your mind set and you are ready to step into the world again.
Let’s now examine a different type of Space. Your mind. Are you comfortable with being by yourself? Do you need others around you? What need does this fulfill? Do you enjoy your own company? When you are alone you can have a frank conversation and explore various opportunities and options. Listen to your self- talk and notice if you are stuck on a perpetual theme.
Has it worked to move you forward in life. Is there an unexpressed hidden emotion or trauma that must be worked out before or as you move forward. Examine with pride your personal qualities and skills so that you can move forward with confidence. You can create this personal mind space even while sitting in a park, on your deck, standing in line or riding a bus.
A group of painters can be alone with themselves for each is in their creative Zone where time does not exist, only creative expression and focus. Is there an expectation? Eliminate expectations! As in life if you are locked into a certain vision which you deem the desired outcome one can become rigid and resentful if it does not turn out as you envisioned. Enjoy the journey as you travel in your SPACE!!!
